Focus Areas
The Bottoms Administration has worked hard to ensure that our officers are trained, equipped, and paid commensurate with the challenges they face and their unwavering dedication. The City of Atlanta is doing its part to ensure equity is immersed in all of our decisions. We are forging a new day in Atlanta, where our police officers can live and thrive in the communities they serve; and where we can collectively evaluate the way our justice system works.

Moving Atlanta Forward Pillars

One Safe City

The One Safe City plan is a balanced approach that mobilizes the entire government and engages our partners, communities and residents. It addresses the root causes of crime as well as targets gangs, drugs, illegal guns and repeat offenders. One Safe City is working to keep all our neighborhoods safe and welcoming for residents, visitors and businesses.

A City of Opportunity for All

We want to ensure that all Atlantans share in our City’s growth and prosperity. We invest in our young people, care for the most vulnerable and create opportunities for all to advance. This means a focus on education, workforce development, equity programs, affordable housing and other initiatives to support our residents.

A City Built for the Future

We are making smart investments to improve Atlanta’s existing infrastructure while developing and implementing new projects to meet the needs of today and prepare for the needs of the future. From modern innovations in safe and equitable transportation systems, to local resilience strategies that combat climate change - we believe these advancements are essential for fostering a strong economy and improving Atlanta’s competitiveness on the world stage.

Effective and Ethical Government

Atlanta’s success is directly tied to how much confidence residents and businesses have in City policies and practices. We want to foster a culture of integrity and innovation in the City. This includes transparency, efficiency and accountability for City actions and decision-making. It also means delivering on City services and programs, being responsive to resident needs and providing timely, reliable information.

Atlanta’s young people are our future. Continuing to invest in future generations puts them on pathways to success that helps Move Atlanta Forward, for everyone. From ATL Year of the Youth to early childhood education, Midnight Basketball, the Summer Youth Employment Program, and the At-Promise Initiative, Mayor Dickens works to ensure Atlanta’s children, youth, and young adults have all the resources needed to thrive. We are working together to make Atlanta the best city in the country to raise a child!

Public Safety

Mayor Dickens’ One Safe City plan aggressively targets gangs, guns, and drugs while also addressing the root causes of crime. From deploying best practice community violence intervention programs to the Repeat Offender Tracking Unit, from improving neighborhood infrastructure and tackling blight to accelerating 911 response times, we are dedicating the “whole of government” to keeping Atlantans safe. Public safety depends on all of us, working together.

Quality Housing for Everyone

A key part of making Atlanta a City of Opportunity for All is ensuring that all Atlantans have access to safe, quality, and affordable housing. Stable, affordable housing paves the way for so many benefits in our community – from increased economic mobility to reduced crime and better health and educational outcomes.

Neighborhood Empowerment & Revitalization

Mayor Dickens has seta bold goal of ensuring that every Atlanta neighborhood is healthy, thriving, and accessible – and to achieve it, he has made eliminating racial equity gaps the central strategic imperative of his administration. Atlanta cannot prosper if too many of our children continue to grow up in deeply distressed neighborhoods. That’s why the Mayor has launched a first-of-its-kind place-based neighborhood revitalization initiative, uniting public, private, and nonprofit actors with neighborhood residents to transform our most disinvested places.

Major Events

Mayor Dickens hosts several “signature events” throughout the year that engage constituents and advance priority initiatives, such as the Mayor’s Youth Scholarship Program or the Atlanta Jazz Festival. These signature events include the annual Mayor’s Golf Tournament, the Senior Ball, the Mayor’s 5K on the Runway, the Mayor’s Interfaith Luncheon, and more. The City of Atlanta is also proud to host much of the world in major events, be it the 2025 College Football Playoff or the2026 FIFA World Cup. It takes all of us working together to welcome the world to Atlanta.

Sustainability, Resilience, and Greenspace

Mayor Dickens is working to move Atlanta Forward to a greener, more climate resistant future, with ample greenspace, quality parks, and best-in-class recreation. Current initiatives focus on LGBTQ Affairs, Women and Girls, and more.
